The Organ Experience

When Bonnie offered the first Organs Workshop in NYC in 1976, I was inspired to create my own model of the organs.  With the help of my friend who was a  seamstress we handcrafted our three-dimensional, soft, luscious organ pillows.  I wanted them to stimulate a visual and tactile sense of engagement of the organs and to evoke a visceral feeling of nourishment and wellbeing.  I have used these pillows in my own workshops and also when teaching in the earliest SBMC Organ Modules. In a different venue, these pillows have been on display in local Arts and Crafts shows as soft sculptures.

In this presentation I will use the pillows as a visual aid in highlighting the initiation of movement from the organs and we will embody their fullness to support our form. Through sensation we will find their presence within.  You will need 2 throw pillows for this experience.
