Body-Mind Centering® and artistic creation: the soma as the research
How the soma can hold the space for artistic research? How can we support the “not-knowing-yet” inherent to any creation?
In this open talk, Tarina and Diego will present how they depart from the understanding of our soma from a BMC® perspective to develop their artistic creations.
Tarina Quelho (Psy.M.) is performing artist, theater director and somatic educator, practitioner and teacher of Body-Mind Centering®. She has taught for over ten years at the University of São Paulo. She directs and creates the dramaturgy for her works, including “Isto é um negro?”, which has been presented at various festivals in and outside Brazil (FIT, MIT, MEXE/Portugal, Proximamente/Belgium, Theaterformen/Germany and Fringe/Scotland, among others). Tarina continues to be involved, always from a somatic perspective, in blurring the boundaries between theory and artistic creation, as well as fiction and reality, and in relationships of co-authorship. For some years now, she has been trying to understand somatic education in its political power as a counter-colonial practice. She currently co-directs the Brazilian and Uruguayan BMC® programs.
