You may sign up for both and go deep, or join either one, they will offer different material , they overlap and integrate the main embryological principles, but offer specializations.
On Wednesday evening and Thursday we enter into Somatic Movement principles and the Developmental Patterns in Utero - The Pre-Spinal patterns. This is a lovely way to enter and connect to your fluid body.
You may also join for 3 days and enter to focus on Embryology! (Students of SBTM are required to join ONE of the 4.5 day events)

In each we cover the basics of embryological development and its expression in movement and touch, we will spend time learning, discussing and moving.
EMBRYO I covers conception, the first week, and differentiation of the 3 layers, following organ development, nervous system, and bones, muscle, fascia. It discovers the establishment of a midline.
Embryo II covers the first week with an emphasis on cellular differentiation, blood/ heart development, Migration patterns of the gonads, the multiple kidney expressions and bladder and mouth, skull brain development.
The focus of this first SBT workshop is the pre-birth development that takes place in the oceanic environment of the womb. Students are introduced to the methods of somatic inquiry, movement exploration, and touch. The workshop will be both meditative, somatic as well as offer times to move/ dance as well as support processes through hands-on touch.
The body begins creating its form during embryological development. As tissues and structures develop, some will remain within the body, some are transformed into other structures, and yet others fade into the background, no longer existing or recognizable as the original structure. As with all development, the original processes leave deep-rooted patterns and templates that affect movement, mind, and spirit. The somatic exploration of the embryological developmental process leads to the discovery of the primal roots of the body-mind's structure, perception, presence, and flow.
In this workshop, there is a deepening of various themes of in utero development, including fertilization, cellular choice-making, circulation and heart development, placenta, the three layers of the body, neurulation, kidney development and rotation of the limbs. Also included are explorations of how cells flow and change, differentiating while in the process of becoming, and the oceanic Developmental Movement Patterns will be introduced. This workshop is for movers, dancers, yoga practitioners, bodyworkers, and those from other body-mind disciplines interested in unraveling the mystery of embryological development as it relates to cellular consciousness, and movement.
Christine Cole, RSMT, the Founder and Director of Somatic Body Training Program, is an expert in the embodiment of human development. On the leading edge of research about somatic movement education and therapy, she displays a radical trust in embodied experience as the primary way for groups to co-create knowledge.
As a result of 30 years of engaging deeply in learning and teaching the somatic body practices of Body-Mind Centering®, dance/movement, and bodywork, Christine clearly embodies the material she has evolved and models a deep understanding of how the body’s systems change in various developmental stages.
A teacher of Body-Mind Centering®, and practitioner of integrative acupressure and infinity healing, she has taught at the school for Body-Mind Centering® in Amherst and Amsterdam, Holland, and runs her own trainings in Moscow, Boston, Vermont, Montreal and Northampton, MA. She also maintains a private practice in developmental bodywork in downtown Northampton, ma. In addition, Christine has long term practices in contact improvisation, post-modern and improvisational dance, authentic movement, improvisational theater, writing and vocal training.
